On Jul 28, 1999, a high-level maxillary Le Fort I osteotomy with separation of pterygomaxillary junction was performed. Seven days after the osteotomy, face mask distraction was performed with external elastic force of 1000 g per side for 1 month to achieve the desired maxillary position and occlusion.
