Histological results of peri-implant tissue in case 1. There were bone particles scattered throughout the inflammatory tissue (A, B blue arrowheads). Metal particles were observed (C yellow arrowheads). Osteoclasts were apparent, surrounding the bone particles, supporting the progression of the bone-destruction process (DF blue arrows). Multinucleated giant cells were present in the bone particle area as well as scattered in the inflammatory tissue (DI blue asterisks)
